Innovate4Climate
Forecasts of a changing climate are increasingly dire: the damage is happening faster than anticipated, the threat of irreparable harm is imminent, and a change in course would require a global economic transformation at a speed never seen before.
Innovate4Climate (I4C) is the preeminent global event on climate finance, climate investment and climate markets. It is a platform that brings together business, finance, policy and technology leaders to accelerate action on financing climate-smart development. In 2019, I4C will focus on green finance, clean cooling, battery storage, climate-smart urban design, Asian climate markets, and much more. There are also sessions on climate risk management, resilience and adaptation, such as the sessions on "Climate Resilience and Adaptation Investment: From Concept to Execution" and "Managing Climate Risks through the Catastrophe Bond Market."
I4C is based on four pillars:
- Meet: Connect with stakeholders, including policy makers, investors, project developers, advocates, technology leaders, and the business community, to support policy reform, identify climate investment opportunities, and crowd in private investment for climate action.
- Match: Identify disruptive business models and technologies key to leapfrogging low-carbon and resilient economies and take advantage of this unique platform linking innovation and investment.
- Mobilize: Explore innovative financial instruments and risk mitigation mechanisms to mobilize financing and direct it toward productive and profitable climate-smart technologies.
- Mitigate: Promote carbon pricing initiatives to stimulate cost-effective emissions mitigation and meet economical, environmental, and social objectives.
