Tearfund is currently seeking a Finance Manager for its disaster management programme in Afghanistan. The post is based in Kabul and holds the responsibility of maintaining a reliable system of financial record-keeping, whilst ensuring that the Programme Director, Field Management and Tearfund UK are kept up-to-date with financial management information to enable them to manage Tearfund’s relief programme effectively.
Other responsibilities include: maintaining a system of sound internal controls to safeguard Tearfund assets and mitigate against the risk of financial loss; providing support to the Programme Director in the preparation of proposals for submission to donors, particularly in preparation of budgets and; contributing to the overall development of Tearfund accounting systems and processes.
The successful candidate will have strategic planning, leadership, negotiation and representation skills and experience. They will be competent at working independently to tight and changing deadlines, but also a team player who is adaptable and flexible. They will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be willing to travel to project field sites, staying in insecure environments with basic conditions, where necessary.
Previous experience in relief & development is preferred but not essential. All posts involve potential contact with children and the recruitment process will include specific checks related to child protection issues.
