Subregional report: Midterm review of the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 for the Pacific
This report takes stock of the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 in Pacific Island countries at its midpoint and identifies key areas to focus on to advance the achievement of the Framework’s goal and targets by 2023.
Progress has been made at the regional level towards more integrated climate adaptation and disaster risk reduction (DRR) policies but more efforts are needed to better integrate DRR into sectoral and development planning and to put policies into practice. In most Pacific Island countries, more funding is needed to implement DRR measures and the private sector needs to be sensitized to the benefits of risk-informed investments. There is a great need for further capacity building for national stakeholders and for high quality climate and disaster risk information and data.
