CONASUR was set up in order to adopt a strategy for prevention and reduction of the disastrous effects of natural disasters in Burkina Faso. As a public institution with a humanitarian vocation, CONASUR is essentially in charge of the implementation of rehabilitation programmes following periods of crisis.
CONASUR's mandate includes: set up and implement, with competent partners, the national plan for preparation and response to emergency situations in case of natural disasters; coordinate and evaluate national and/or external interventions aiming at reducing the effects of natural disasters; inform, sensitize and educate communities in the culture of prevention of natural calamities.
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
