University of Colima's Volcano Observatory
Following the eruptive activity of Colima’s Volcano of Fire in Mexico, between 1975 and 1976, several researchers from Mexico and abroad took an interest in the study of the volcano’s activity with regard to some very specific subjects. However, the fact that there was no centre that could carry out the relevant work and obtain the resources that were necessary for that purpose prevented more often than not research projects from continuing. Nonetheless, the work undertaken by researchers from the Autonomous University of Mexico and the University of Guadalajara was particularly important.
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
