Description

City-to-City exchange is an effective tool for knowledge transfer as demonstrated by the City-to-City Sharing Initiative for Disaster Risk Reduction – a DRR partnership amongst Makati City (Philippines), Quito (Ecuador) and Kathmandu (Nepal) funded by the World Bank Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery.
The C2CSI for DRR used tools and methodology that paved the way for a systematic and organized approach for effective knowledge transfer. It provided platforms for the development of knowledge products, such as model templates for risk-sensitive land use planning and zoning ordinance, emergency operations as well as public awareness planning, ready for upscaling.
