About

The webinar will showcase how CIF has been contributing to crucially important disaster risk management (DRM) through its 15 years of experience under the Pilot Program for Climate Resilience (PPCR) and through its Technical Assistance Facility (TAF).

A panel of experts will highlight country- and regional-level lessons and experiences for advancing the DRM agenda into and through climate resilience action and for ensuring integrated approaches to addressing the climate, disaster, and development challenges. The session will draw on diverse perspectives, including those of CIF recipient governments, donors, multilateral development banks, and youth stakeholders. It will specifically:

  • Highlight key findings and lessons that emerged from the recently published report entitled “Strengthening Disaster Risk Management in Climate Resilience Action: A Learning Review of CIF Supported Projects”.

  • Showcase how CIF is promoting adaptation and DRM action in areas such as youth entrepreneurship and nature-based solutions, through CIF’s partnership with the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA), and in particular under the  Africa Youth Adaptation Solutions Challenge (YouthAdapt Challenge) initiative.

  • Illustrate how lessons from CIF’s existing portfolio are particularly relevant and can be valuable for/help inform the design and implementation of CIF’s new programs, including Nature, People and Climate; Climate Smart Cities (Urbanization); and future CIF programs, such as the new Climate Resilience Program, to maximize results and benefits of CIF investments.

The session will also provide an opportunity to forge further collaborations and learning exchanges between CIF program(s) and other initiatives focusing on DRM, including the World Bank’s Understanding Risk Initiative.
