Governing Systemic Risk: Exploring Governance Arrangements that are fits for purpose in the 21st Century
Risk is becoming increasingly multi-dimensional with knock-on effects among interconnected social, environmental, political, and economic systems. This panel brings together a range of experts from different backgrounds to share their perspectives on systemic risk and governance. The panel will also discuss the preliminary findings of a new study of UNDP that explores how the concept of systemic risk can be translated from a still largely abstract global concern to an issue that is central to the achievement of the SDGs and relevant to the agenda of national and local governments.
The speakers include:
- George Conway, Deputy Director, UNDP Crisis Bureau
- Andrew Maskrey, Coordinator of the Risk Nexus Initiative (RNI)
- Jenty Kirsch-Wood, Head of Global Risk Management and Reporting, United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction
- Prof Dr. Ortwin Renn Scientific Director, Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies, Potsdam
- Pedro Conceição, Director, Human Development Report Office, UNDP
The session will be moderated by Ronal Jackson, Head of Disaster Risk Reduction & Recovery for Building Resilience Team, UNDP.
