Dicchi and Pomix discovering volcanoes: a fantastic trip

Source(s):  Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV)

This illustrated children's book is a fable involving two main protagonists: a child named Dicchi, and an animated pumice stone called Pomix. They experiience a fantastic trip through the Neapolitan area, speaking to animated volcanoes, listening to them as they communicate amongst themselves, while becoming aware of the natural and anthropological characteristics of the territory. Through this fable children acquire basic scientific concepts about volcanoes, their functioning, the hazards and the risks rising from them. They discover a submerged bay. They also learn what the exposed population should do to mitigate risks. (UNEsCO)
