Description

The Global Early Warning Survey in 2006, the WMO country-level Survey in 2006-2007, and the Early Warning System Assessment Report prepared for the 2009 Global Assessment Report all recognize significant progress in the development of early warning systems. Yet considerable challenges remain to ensure that early warning systems are implemented as an integral part of disaster risk reduction strategies, within a multi-hazard framework. The aim of the Round Table is to discuss the latest progress, challenges and gaps in legislative, financial, Organizational, technical, operational, training and capacity building aspects of early warning systems based on regional, national and local examples.
