Natural hazards in the presence of high vulnerable conditions, are likely to exist in developing nations, especially in disadvantaged areas, can lead to a disaster. Effective institutionalization of DRM is needed to reduce disasters. Effective institutionalization is a holistic approach, involving several elements such as, people understanding the reality, information knowledge, developing policies and legislation, planning, allocating appropriate resources and insurance schemes, capacity development, monitoring and evaluation processes, developing researches and methodology. This presentation aims to discuss effective institutionalization of DRM to be sustainable.
