Description

Pre-disaster measures in Tohoku region (East Japan) included both structural (e.g. seawall, breakwater, tsunami evacuation building) and non-structural (e.g. tsunami warning, raising awareness, drills). During the Great East Japan Earthquake of March 11, 2011, some of these measures worked and others did not. IRP-ADRC will present the preliminary assessment for building back better and inform the Global Platform of an international workshop planned on 29-31 May 2011 in Japan.
