The Third Session of the Global Platform and the World Reconstruction Conference will convene in a month. The confirmation of many speakers and participants reaffirms the commitment to disaster risk reduction and the significance of the Global Platform.
The Great East Japan Earthquake last month, the Haiti, Chile and New Zealand earthquakes as well as floods in Pakistan, Australia and mudslides in Brazil are just a few examples of the constant risks faced by societies. The Global Platform is the foremost forum to facilitate the building of communities of resilience who live with such risks.
The Programme for the Third Session of the Global Platform and the World Reconstruction Conference with time schedules and short descriptions of all planned events is now available. See the related link below.
We currently have around 1,400 participants registered. We kindly ask all participants who intend to register to do so immediately. All remaining travel support requests from Government participants must be received (via their respective Permanent Mission in Geneva) by Monday 11 April in order to process in time for the Platform.
