Transformative innovation for better climate change adaptation - Case study: Iceland
The aim of this report is to investigate the potential for harnessing key features of Transformative Innovation to improve the design and the implementation of Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) strategies, based on empirical analyses. The analysis is based on a theoretical framework along seven dimensions designed to compare TI and Climate Change Adaptation.
The case study research did not reveal any substantive demonstration of a ‘Transformative Innovation’ (TI) approach underway in Iceland towards CCA. However, despite the relatively late arrival of CCA on Iceland’s policy agenda, the Government has succeeded in creating a certain sense of urgency around the subject and appears to be making good progress with CCA strategy building overall.
