A survey report on the meeting on Arab climate resilience initiative
This paper is a report of the second regional consultation meeting 'Climate Change impacts in the Arab Region: sea level rise, coastal erosion and human development' held in Cairo, 20-21 September 2010. It describes the five panels that took place, as well as a summary of the discussions, conclusions and recommendations, emphasising the responsibility of action for disaster reduction of each country under the Hyogo Framework of Action.
The panels included the following themes: (i) climate change and sea level rise; (ii) impacts on the environment from increased temperatures and rising tides; (iii) the socio-economic impact of sea-level rise; (iv) impacts and measures - country case; and (v) meeting the challenge of sea-level rise and coastal erosion.
