Philippines: Updated Philippine national action plan to combat desertification, land degradation and drought (DLDD) 2010-2020
The Philippine Senate ratified the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) on February 10, 2000 and the final accession to the Convention came into full force in May 2000. To fulfill the requirement of the UNCCD under the Convention’s Articles 9 and 10, the first Philippine National Action Plan (NAP) 2004‐2010 was formulated in August 2004.
This updated NAP 2010‐2020 is formulated to more effectively implement programs and projects to combat desertification and land degradation and mitigate the effects of drought. It is an expression of support by the Philippines for the 10‐Year Strategic Plan and Framework (The Strategy) 2008‐2018 adopted at COP8 in September 2007 and is formulated to enhance UNCCD implementation at country level.
