Lecciones aprendidas de Clima Latino: encuentro internacional sobre cambio climático en América Latina
This document reports on the climate change international event called "Clima Latino", held October 15 to 17, 2007 in Ecuador, which aimed at discussing and warning of the imminent dangers of climate change, and particularly its effects on the Andean countries, Latin America and the Caribbean and, at the same time, putting forward proposals for confronting the problem. It presents several agreements that were adopted in order to enhance climate change management in the sub region and strengthen its position in the negotiation process of the UNFCCC, as well as the "21 Recommendations for the XXI century" which highlights the priorities the sub region must address for an effective communitarian action to combat climate change.
The document address all matters concerning climate change such as political, environmental, social, economic, cultural and spiritual issues, including a variety of subjects such as: the situation in Latin America and the Caribbean, risk management, coastal management proposals, responsible enterprises, eco-cities, the policy for the future, Andes and Amazon, biodiversity and local communities, glaciers, water and soil, health, new development models and challenges for the future, etc.
