Jamaicans urged to play their part in disaster preparedness
Jamaica's Prime Minister Portia Miller asked the citizens of her country to "take seriously the theme of the 2012 Disaster Preparedness Month", 'Embrace Climate Change Realities, Build Disaster Resilient Communities', reports The Gleaner. She also warned that "Being prepared will not completely spare us the ravages of a disaster, but it will help to minimise the extent and severity of the damage." The aim of the campaign is to raise pubic awareness and to inform people how to prepare for disasters, particularly focusing on the vulnerable areas.
