Nigeria: NEMA offers technical assistance to Gambia

According to Leadership, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) of Nigeria has offered to assist Gambia in the establishment of its own emergency management agency to strengthen efforts at providing safety for lives and property in the West African Sub-region. "The international cooperation was necessary on matters of disaster management since the occurrence has no respect for national or international boundaries," said Alhaji Muhammad Sani-Sidi, the Director General of NEMA, which has acquired some capacities in disaster risk management and is recognised globally as a role model in Africa in the areas of disaster preparedness, prevention, and mitigation in meeting the challenges of climate change and global warming.
