Thailand ready to host disaster risk reduction conference In June

Bangkok - Thailand says it is ready to host the 6th Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction 2014 (AMCDRR) from June 22 to 26 in capital Bangkok, Thai News Agency (TNA) reported.

Acting Permanent Secretary for the Prime Minister's Office M.L. Panadda Diskul and Thai ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations, Thani Thongpakdee made the declaration at a joint press conference here Friday.

The conference is themed "Promoting Investments for Resilient Nations and Communities" and high on its agenda is increasing investment to cope with disasters and to provide quick rehabilitation in disaster-hit areas.

Ministers from Asia Pacific, heads of disaster management agencies from 50 countries and other stakeholders in disaster risk reduction in the region are expected to attend the conference.
