Japan: Disaster information vital for foreign residents - Opinion

Source(s): Japan Times Ltd., the

'While Japan continues to make progress, and much of it highly advanced, in its disaster preparedness since the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami, ironically one of the areas that needs immediate work is getting information out to foreign residents in Japan on disaster preparedness and what to do in case of a large-scale calamity such as an earthquake or tsunami,' writes Robert D. Eldridge in an opinion piece in the Japan Times.

According to the article, it will be important for Japan’s prefectures, and local communities, to continue to make foreign-language materials available for its non-Japanese residents, whether in pamphlet form or online.
