How angel of Sichuan saved school in quake
A school principal in Sangzao, China, convinced the county government to fund renovation and reinforcement work on his school in the 1990s which probably helped the school withstand the recent earthquake. Another school, located just 20 miles away, collapsed killing 1,000 children and teachers.
“We learned a lesson from this earthquake: the standards for schools should have been improved,” Mr. Ye, 55, said. “The standards now are still not enough.”
