Emergency departments of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan plan to hold a joint board on disaster risk reduction

A bilateral meeting was held on January 29, 2015 between the Minister of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic, Kubatbek Boronov, and Chairman of the Committee on Emergency Situations and Civil Defense under the Government of Tajikistan, Mr. Hairiddin Abdurahimov.

During the meeting the parties discussed plans to hold the first joint board between the emergency departments of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan in 2015. They also discussed issues on improvement of bilateral cooperation, with the Tajik representatives expressing interest in joining the Centre for emergency situations and disaster risk reduction in Almaty.

The purpose of the proposed joint board of the two countries is to discuss priority issues in the field of disaster risk reduction and long-term cooperation in the first half of the year.
