Pounds of prevention, a disaster risk reduction story: focus on Saint Lucia
This edition focuses on the residents of Saint Lucia, an island vulnerable to many hazards, including hurricanes, rainstorms, landslides, erosion, floods, and earthquakes. This edition summarizes the aid provided by USAID and the Laborie Disaster Preparedness Committee in building district resilience to the impacts of natural disasters. It specifically highlights the design and installation of a rainwater harvesting and storage system to ensure an adequate supply of safe drinking water in the event a disaster rendered the public water system inoperable.
