Job Purpose

To lead and coordinate Concern’s national education programme

Job Duties & Responsibilities

- To finalize the design of the programme and to ensure harmonized implementation of all activities at national, provincial and international level
- To provide technical and institutional support to the provincial teams in the area of education. This may include serving as a liaison person between the teams and other service providers , such as training institutes, other (I)NGOs and research institutions at national and international level
- To lead research and advocacy interventions related to the programme at national and international level
- To develop M&E systems for the education programme and ensure their roll out and incorporation.
- To promote working in partnership with national and international organizations working in the area of education, including the development of capacity building strategies and skills to ensure adequate partner support
- To take an active role in the assessment and ongoing monitoring of National Partners.
- To represent Concern in relevant national and international networks and meetings
- To develop new initiatives related to education This may require proposal writing and fundraising activities
- To support the mainstreaming of HIV&AIDS, equality and disaster risk reduction across the programme
- To input to PDR process for Education programme managers
- To participate in the development of policies and good practices within Concern Mozambique

Person Specification

Essential
- Degree level qualification in Education, development or related area.
- In-depth knowledge of managing area development programmes.
- Minimum 3 years experience in managing Programmes, National and International Staff, and programme managers.
M&E of programmes.
- Emergency relief / response experience
- Passion for working in development, with a specific interest in education
- In depth knowledge of development issues including a Rights Based Approach to development
- Ability to negotiate and influence
- Knowledge of HIV/AIDS and Gender Mainstreaming issues

Training skills
- Strong report-writing skills in English and Portuguese
- Ability to work to deadlines and under pressure
- Good interpersonal, communication and team-building skills
- Delegation, time management and prioritising skills are essential.
- Strong Networking abilities
- Knowledge of Southern African Social and Political Context
- Computer literate.
- Familiarity with Concern policies and the strategic plan.
- Clean driving licence
- English and working knowledge of Portuguese.

Desirable
- Masters degree in an appropriate discipline.
