First meeting of Arab earthquake experts

This meeting will be about assessing what early warning systems for earthquakes and natural disasters do the member states have. It will give the change for the Arab earthquake experts to discuss possible mechanisms to enable educational and media bodies to actively contribute to increasing awareness of environment and natural disaster issues. They will also look at the possibilities to enhance coordination among Arab scientists and to establish an Arab database on earthquakes and natural disasters

Programme:
• The earthquakes risk in Jordan, and the prospects for Arab cooperation in the field of monitoring earthquakes.
• The Geological Hazards in Iraq
• Earthquake activity in Morocco and ways to mitigate the risk of earthquakes.
• Seismicity of Yemen and The Nubia-Arabia-Somalia Plate Boundary system
• Seismicity and stress-tensor inversion along the Gulf of Aqab
• September 30th, 2007 Volcanic and seismic Activities in Jabal Al-Tair Island
• Earthquake risk assessment and disaster risk reduction in Palestine.
• Yemen-GFZ Real Time,BB Siesmic Station Project
• Earthquake Disaster Mitigation in Egypt
• The Geological Hazards in the Arab Countries and the strategy of reduction
