The University College London are currently recruiting for a part time Deputy Director to the Institute for Risk & Disaster Reduction Department.
Duties and responsibilities
- The appointment will be based in the new Institute for Risk and Disaster Reduction, whose aim is to provide a focus for UCL's risk and disaster reduction (RDR) activities, which span earth and space science, mathematics and statistics, engineering and development planning, population health, anthropology, ethics and laws.
- The Deputy Director, working alongside the Director, will play a key role in developing and implementing the long-term strategy for the new Institute and in achieving its objectives.
- They will operate at a high level to ensure that new research, programmatic, teaching and learning initiatives in the area of RDR are integrated across disciplines, faculties and departments at UCL.
- In 2012-13, the Deputy Director will launch the IRDR's new masters teaching programme and contribute to it.
Key requirements
- Applicants will have a PhD in a relevant subject and have knowledge about issues in risk and disaster reduction.
- They will have the ability to liaise with senior management, academic staff and outside stakeholders, and to independently develop new projects with internal and external partners.
- Applicants will be able to coordinate the IRDR masters teaching programme.
