A challenging management opportunity exists for a Professional Engineer, Geoscientist, or Emergency Management specialist experienced in hazard & risk management. This position is temporary full time, for approximately one year.

As a senior member of the Engineering Administration & Technical Services team, you will have primary responsibility for managing the District’s innovative Hazards Management Program and related projects. Key areas will include conducting risk assessments, managing mitigation projects, policy development and communicating hazards and risks to residents and other stakeholders. While reporting to the Director, Environment, Parks and Engineering, you will also provide leadership and guidance to a variety of internal and external agencies dealing with complex issues. The District of North Vancouver recently received the United Nations Sasakawa Award for Disaster Risk Reduction.

The organization is looking for a dynamic leader with strong decision-making abilities and exceptional communication skills to interact with the public, internal staff and external agencies.

You are a Professional Engineer, Geoscientist or Emergency Management specialist, preferably with a graduate degree and/or a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. Professionals with hazard and risk management experience are preferred. You have experience leading teams and projects, assessing and communicating hazards and risks and managing engineering projects.
