World Bank wants urgency from Philippines on climate change
Andrew Steer, special envoy for climate change for the World Bank, has called on Manila to finalize and implement a climate change action plan, including a strategy to mitigate flooding in coastal and low-lying communities, according to Reuters.
"The real challenge of the Philippines, and it's important that citizens are aware... that over the coming decades, unless the world takes tougher action, there are certain things that are going to happen that are not good," he said, adding that "Extreme weather events, especially typhoons will become more serious, and it has huge impact on the Philippines."
