Organizer(s) University of Geneva

Earthquakes are phenomena that have a high potential of destruction and these phenomena cannot be predicted or stopped. Therefore reducing losses are only possible by acting in a preventive way. Actions can be achieved before, during and after a seismic event. This module focuses on aspects that have to be carried out in order to reduce impacts when the crisis is declared and what could be done after the humanitarian response in order to avoid future impacts.

Objectives
Improve capacities for rapid response and reconstruction in earthquake-prone countries;
Understand challenges in reducing earthquake impacts.

This is a one-week training module. Lectures and documents will be given mostly in English. Some might be provided in French.
