Press conferences

Requests for press conferences can be handled on-site at the Help Desk. Media must be registered or hold a UN Pass to attend press conferences. Press conferences may be requested through the final day of the conference. All requests will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis with close alternatives being offered should the time slot be already reserved.

Logistical information

Press conference rooms on the conference premises are usually equipped with presentation equipment, including a beamer and laptop to upload presentations from a USB stick. Please advise at the time of booking whether you will be making a presentation during your press conference.

Announcing press conferences

Participants are responsible for creating their own media lists and informing the news media of their press conferences.Scheduled press conferences are posted on the Global Platform website. A schedule of all press conferences is posted in the Media Centre throughout the course of the conference.

UNDRR staff will be pleased to make media advisories and other materials available to accredited press in the Media Centre. Please contact the UNDRR communications team to facilitate distribution.

Registration for Journalists

United Nations press badges or Global Platform conference badges are essential for journalists to gain access to the premises. Only one badge is needed to cover participation in all Global Platform sessions throughout the duration of the conference.

The United Nations Press Corps will be allowed in automatically on presentation of their United Nations press badge. Representatives of national and international media who are not part of the United Nations Press Corps can apply for registration as a member of the delegation "Global Media Network for Disaster Risk Reduction"

Steps to register

To register, please visit the registration section and take the following steps:

Step 1 of 3: When asked to indicate the ISDR System Partner delegation: select Global Media Network for Disaster Risk Reduction and tick the box at the bottom of the page stating "I confirm that my registration has been approved by this ISDR partner organization."

Step 2 of 3: Enter your email address

Step 3 of 3: Under "Indicate the ISDR System Partner delegation you are member of" fill in your organization details.

Journalists may also register upon arrival at the desk located in the Conference Centre lobby. A valid photo ID should be presented to the registration staff. Online registration is highly recommended to avoid delays on the first day of the sessions.

Registration times:
Sunday 8 May from 14.00 to 18.00
Monday 9 May to Thursday 12 May from 08.00 to 18.00.
Friday 13 May from 08.00 to 12.00

If you need a visa, all details concerning your visa application are available by consulting the folder "Practical Information" which you find in the left hand column of this page.

Hotels

Participants are responsible for making their own accommodation arrangements.
