Conference: Priorities for the National Adaptation Programme and addressing climate change
This conference will examine the priorities for UK climate change adaptation and planning ahead, as preparations are put in place for publication of the National Adaptation Programme in 2018.
Policymakers and stakeholders will discuss the practicalities of adaption plans for priority areas highlighted in Defra’s Climate Change Risk Assessment Report 2017 by the Climate Change Adaptation Sub-Committee - including water supplies, natural capital, health, food and pests.
The Chair of the Committee on Climate Change (CCC) Adaptation Sub-Committee, Baroness Brown of Cambridge, is a keynote speaker at the conference, as are Sonia Phippard, Director General for Marine, Natural Environment and Rural, Defra and Liz Parkes, Deputy Director, Climate Change and Business Services, Environment Agency.
Delegates will also consider the outstanding research priorities and adaptation strategies for at-risk areas of the UK, and evaluate the future requirements for the management of climate-resilient infrastructure, risks of climate change to ecosystem services and to public health, and the opportunities to improve efficiency in adaptation measures.
This event if CPD certified.
