Ahead of the 2017 Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in Cancun, May 22-26, tune into this live broadcast to learn more about how global communities are stepping up to the challenge of disaster risk reduction and learn how we can best leverage this moment as a key moment in building resilience in the face of disaster.

The Sendai Framework is a 15-year, voluntary, non-binding agreement which centralizes the State’s responsibility of reducing disaster risk but also recognizes that the responsibility should be shared with local government, the private sector and other stakeholders. The goal of the framework is the substantial reduction of disaster risk and losses in lives, livelihoods and health and in the economic, physical, social, cultural and environmental assets of persons, businesses, communities and countries.
