Organizer(s) Public Safety Canada
Venue
Coast Hotel and Conference Center
Date
-

The Roundtable serves as an inclusive multi-sectoral consultative mechanism to advance disaster risk reduction in Canada. This day and a half event is open to any interested participants, including: private sector; all-levels of government; non-governmental organizations; academia; and the general public.

This year's theme for the Roundtable, Charting the Future of Disaster Risk Reduction in Canada, encourages participants to reflect on shared responsibilities for DRR and to discuss the domestic implementation of the New Sendai Framework. Margareta Wahlström, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction, will be one of the keynote speakers.

A site visit of the Calgary Emergency Operations Centre is being planned for the evening of November 2, 2015. This event will allow participants to see emergency management policy and decisions being implemented in the field by EM professionals and provide a field-level context to the Roundtable discussions.
