The Hague Academy for Local Governance organises the training course “Multilevel Water Governance” in April, 2016 in the Hague. This innovative course discusses the multiple challenges of water governance, such as legal and institutional aspects, financing water management and services, effective cooperation with stakeholders, cross-border issues, gender impact and integrity.

The Hague Academy offers a practice oriented, two-week training course with contributions from leading experts from UNESCO-IHE and OECD. They will introduce the five building blocks of sound water governance, the water governance gaps and the application of water governance assessments for your local context. During the course, you will discuss international case studies such as Lake Naivasha in Kenya, the Awash basin in Ethiopia and the Blue Gold project in Bangladesh and analyse your own country context by applying governance assessment tools such as the financial assessment tool.

Furthermore, you will visit innovations in agriculture, examples of modern river flood management and practices of urban water management and waste water management. During these visits a special focus will be on cooperation structures and financing mechanisms.

The deadline for application is 12 February, 2016. For more information about how to apply and the online application form, visit the registration link below.
