Sixth summit of the Americas
In April 2012 the 34 Heads of State and Government will address the Sixth Summit central theme, “Connecting the Americas: Partners for Prosperity", which focuses on the role of physical integration and regional cooperation as means to overcome the Hemisphere’s challenges and to achieve greater levels of development.
The most pressing of these challenges will be addressed through consideration of the Sixth Summits’ four sub-themes: poverty and inequality, citizen security, natural disasters and access to technology.
The Summit, which occurs every three years, offers the opportunity for countries to jointly define a hemispheric agenda at the highest level to address urgent challenges and propel positive change.

En abril de 2012, los 34 Jefes de Estado y de Gobierno abordarán el lema central de la Sexta Cumbre “Conectando las Américas: Socios para la Prosperidad”, el cuál se enfoca en el rol de la integración física y la cooperación regional como medio para superar los desafíos del Hemisferio y alcanzar mayores niveles de desarrollo.
Los desafíos más apremiantes serán abordados por medio de la consideración de los cuatro sub-temas de la Sexta Cumbre: pobreza e inequidad, seguridad ciudadana, desastres naturales y acceso a la tecnología.
La Cumbre, que se realiza cada tres años, ofrece la oportunidad a los países para definir conjuntamente una agenda hemisférica al más alto nivel que aborda los desafíos urgentes e impulsa un cambio positivo.
