International day for disaster risk reduction in Faisalabad

Curently more than 60% population of Pakistan consisting of Youth and Children under the age of 29. IRSD, Pakistan is empowering this target group of the country and running a continuous Disaster Management Program. We believe that it is more profound and necessary to engage Youth and Children in the Disaster Risk Reduction activities to achieve sustainable development. Thus, we are celebrating International day for DRR with the collaboration of District Government (Environment and Social Welfare Departments) on 15th of October, 2011.

The event will include a rally with placard written with slogans and awareness raising themes involving youth and children from schools and volunteers. The rally will conclude with speeches from district government representatives, media persons and civil society representatives.

Following objectives will be achieved through the activity:

- Increasing disaster awareness in the public along with youth and children
- Promoting and strengthening partnership with youth and children in reducing disaster risk
- Connecting and building bridges and understanding among youth and children
