Disaster management conference

Organizer(s) Australian Institute of Emergency Services
Venue
Mercure Brisbane
Date
-

The conference will examine what we have learnt in the past few years and provide a comprehensive forum that shines a spotlight on resilience and offers professionals (and future professionals) an opportunity to advance and improve approaches, thoughts and opinions. We would like to examine expertise, competencies and aptitudes relating to the preparedness for future disasters, emergencies and hazards and the ability to recover from them quickly and efficiently.

There is overwhelming evidence that disasters can lead to a range of post-traumatic health problems. Over the past several decades, much research has informed us about the array of psychological and physical problems arising from natural and man-made disasters.

Following the success of the 2012 conference, the committee will keep the event in Brisbane in 2013. The program committee has been expanded to include representatives from most Australian States and New Zealan.

Individuals or organisations interested in presenting at the conference are invited to submit an abstract of no more than 300 words outlining the aim and content of the paper and/or proposed workshop presentation.
