Building on the success of the Conferences over the last five years a key aim of this year’s programme is to focus on ten years of progress in linking disaster and development and prioritisation for the following ten years.

Conference Focus:
The conference focus for 2010 is ‘Linking Disasters and Development: the next 10 years’. This involves exploring and highlighting aspects of resilience, response, investigation and recovery strategies for dealing with environmental, economic and socially related disasters, nationally and internationally.

Conference Themes:
- Rights based approaches to disaster reduction
- Beyond resilience
- Health security and wellbeing
- Urban disaster planning and infrastructure
- Disaster communication and associated technology
- Community to community development

The conference programme is deliberately broad and is designed to bring together the wide range of professional and academic organisations involved in the field.
