Global online courses on disaster risk management.

The Earthquakes and Megacities Initiative (EMI) is an international not-for-profit scientific organization dedicated to the reduction of disaster risk in complex urban areas.

One of its core mandates is to build individual and institutional capacities of local and national governments and development practitioners to support the shift from reactive, disaster response orientation to one that is proactive and focused on disaster risk management.

This October, EMI in partnership with the World Bank Institute is offering another run of the Global Courses on Natural Disaster Risk Management Program. The NDRMP is a series of comprehensive and specialized e-learning courses that provide knowledge among stakeholders in specific areas of disaster risk management.

EMI has been a pioneer in delivering high-quality training courses in disaster risk management since 2006. To date, over 500 participants from 150 international organizations, academe, private and public institutions from 40 countries around the globe have been trained under the program.

The basic course, the Comprehensive Disaster Risk Management Framework, which is a pre-requisite for the seven specialized courses offered under the program will run from October 25-December 3, 2010
