The ASEAN Secretariat, the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR), and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) are organizing joint regional observance of the International Day for Disaster Reduction and the ASEAN Disaster Management Day on Wednesday, 13 October 2010. The event is part of the Making Cities Resilient: 'My city is getting ready' world disaster reduction campaign 2010.

The event will be highlighted through the award ceremony and mark the conclusion of the Regional Drawing Competition on 'My City, My Future – Making ASEAN Cities Safe from Disaster' and 'My City, My Future – Making South Asia Cities Safe from Disaster'. The prizes will be awarded to the winners on the occasion. The exhibition of drawings is organized by UNISDR. The event will be followed by a panel discussion on 'Building Disaster-Resilient Cities in Asia'.
