Bridging past lessons with future preparedness

2024 marks the 20th tribute of the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami, the most devastating tsunami in recorded history. It's a poignant reminder of the power of nature and the importance of preparedness. This is why we've created Tsunami United, a pioneering initiative designed to engage and educate the next generation about tsunami hazards, awareness, and readiness.

A call to high schools across the Indian Ocean regions

To build a stronger and more resilient future, we are inviting high schools from the following regions to participate:

  1. Region 1 Eastern IO: Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.
  2. Region 2 Northwest IO: India, Pakistan, Iran, Oman, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen.
  3. Region 3 IO SIDs: Comoros, Maldives, Mauritius, Singapore, Seychelles, Timor-Leste, and France La-reunion.
  4. Region 4 Western IO: Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Somalia, South Africa, and Madagascar.

Immerse yourself in Tsunami United's enlightening Zoom sessions, designed to trigger thought-provoking conversations on tsunami-related topics and nurture creative communication skills. Understand the historical context of the 2004 Tsunami, its impact, and subsequent improvements. Forecast potential scenarios if a similar event were to strike today. Participate in our innovative coaching sessions to enhance your storytelling abilities, and master techniques such as video editing. It's time to ride this wave of knowledge and resilience together.
