2024 marks the 20th tribute of the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami, the most devastating tsunami in recorded history. It's a poignant reminder of the power of nature and the importance of preparedness. This is why we've created Tsunami United, a pioneering initiative designed to engage and educate the next generation about tsunami hazards, awareness, and readiness.
A call to high schools across the Indian Ocean regions
To build a stronger and more resilient future, we are inviting high schools from the following regions to participate:
- Region 1 Eastern IO: Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.
- Region 2 Northwest IO: India, Pakistan, Iran, Oman, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen.
- Region 3 IO SIDs: Comoros, Maldives, Mauritius, Singapore, Seychelles, Timor-Leste, and France La-reunion.
- Region 4 Western IO: Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Somalia, South Africa, and Madagascar.
