The R!SE Initiative website (the "Website") is made available by the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (the "UNISDR"). These Terms of Use apply to any person viewing, posting on or otherwise using the Website in any way (the "Visitor"). By using the Website, the Visitor agrees to be bound by the following terms and conditions:

Appropriate Uses

The UNISDR maintains and operates the Website as a service and resource for the benefit of the stakeholders involved in disaster risk reduction. Any use of the Website by Visitors that would limit or impart the availability or quality of these services and resources is prohibited and the UNISDR reserves the right to take any actions required to enforce this principle

Assumption of Risk/Disclaimer of Warranties

The UNISDR makes no guarantee of the veracity or appropriateness of any Visitor-created content on the Website. The Visitor acknowledges that the UNISDR assumes no responsibility for oversight or monitoring of the Visitor-created content that appears on the Website. The UNISDR makes no warranty that the site will meet a Visitor's individual needs, or that service will be timely, uninterrupted, secure or error-free. The Visitor understands that any information or data downloaded through the Website is done at the Visitor's sole risk, and that the Visitor will be responsible for any damage or loss of data that may occur due to information or data obtained through the Website. The UNISDR expressly disclaims all liability to any person in respect to anything done or omitted to be done wholly or partly in reliance upon the contents of the Website. UNISDR employees, members of the Board or other individuals related to the UNISDR, may participate in the discussions that take place on the Website. Any content posted by such persons is not added in any official capacity, and the views expressed do not represent official positions of the UNISDR.

Website Content

The UNISDR hereby reserves sole proprietary rights over all Website content that was not originally created by Website Visitors. This includes all non visitor-created text, graphics, photographs, logos, and other items that appear on the Website. The UNISDR also reserves proprietary rights over the Website's template, including its layout and structure.

Links to this website

Reporting Abuse

To report abuse of the Website, including a post containing libelous, vulgar, threatening or misleading information, misappropriation of content, or any other inappropriate use, please click on the "Contact" link at the top of all pages throughout the Website.

Dispute Settlement

Any dispute, controversy or claim arising out of or related to these Terms of Use or the breach, termination or invalidity thereof or to any use of the Website by the Visitor or of the content available therein, shall be settled by arbitration in accordance with the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) Arbitration Rules. The UNISDR and the Visitor agree to be bound by the arbitration award rendered as a final adjudication. The appointment authority of such arbiter shall be the International Chamber of Commerce International Court of Arbitration. The number of arbitrators shall be three. The place of arbitration shall be Geneva, Switzerland. The language used in the arbitral proceedings shall be English. Nothing in this agreement shall be deemed a waiver of any of the privileges and immunities of the UNISDR.

Applicable Law

This Agreement shall be governed by the UNIDROIT Principles (2004).
