This edition of the United Nations Platform for Space-based Information for Disaster Management and Emergency Response (UN-SPIDER) newsletter describes four UN-SPIDER missions which promote disaster risk reduction (DRR): the mission to promote mitigation efforts and to strengthen resilience to floods, landslides, earthquakes, droughts, and fires in Myanmar; the mission to assess the current DRR capacity in Tonga; the mission to instruct Mesoamerican professionals in the uses of radar imaging for flood mitigation in Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador and Belize; and the mission to instruct professionals in the uses of space technology to reduce disaster risks and losses in India.
