School safety: Uttar Pradesh initiative

This paper documents the processes developed for the partnership between the Disaster Risk Management (DRM) Programme-Uttar Pradesh and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) of elementary education department Uttar Pradesh to ensure school safety a major initiative. It does not claim to capture all the processes in their entirety, but tries to focus on documenting the overall impact, government intervention and strategies involved in it through different exercises like interview with various stakeholders, field experience, consulting previous reports and documents, etc.

It is intended to document the processes that enabled this partnership and made it a success story that can be adopted by other states and at the national level also.
