Flood vulnerability assessment of built cultural heritage: Literature review and identification of indicators
The main objective of this study is to identify relevant flood vulnerability indicators (FLOVIs) that could be the basis for developing an indicator-based method dedicated to cultural heritage. This identification of indicators was performed based on a comprehensive review of existing methods, technical guidelines, reports and specific literature discussing the expected flood damage in built cultural heritage, as well as in ordinary buildings.
The study developed a comprehensive review of existing literature addressing flood vulnerability assessment for built cultural heritage assets and ordinary buildings to establish a new set of Flood Vulnerability Indicators (FLOVIs) tailored specifically for built heritage. Based on a qualitative process, the raw data collected from the literature review was synthesized to establish twenty-two FLOVIs that can be used for developing new flood vulnerability assessment approaches for built heritage assets.
