Mission

The DRI, Preston University, was established in November 2005, with a view to deal with acute humanitarian and social problems arising out of natural disasters such as the devastating earthquake of October 2005 that hit Northern Pakistan. DRI is actively involved in research in various areas related to disaster risk mitigation and management. It has also mandated itself to impart professional training to employees of institutions engaged in disaster mitigation, disaster risk reduction and disaster risk management, and also to individuals keen to enter this important field. To pursue this goal, DRI has launched a comprehensive six months (21 credit hours) diploma course.

Disaster Reduction Goal

SERVICES OF DRI
DRI provides following services:
Seismic risk evaluation for any site.
Geo technical evaluation for any site.
Seismic design of any building/structure.
Seismic retrofitting of existing buildings/structures.
Research Activities. Conducted three Research Project with BRI Japan.
Published and presented Research papers at national and International Conferences.
Off late Prof Dr. Baloch, A.W. Executive Director, DRI made a presentation at International Civil Defence Day celebrated on 1st March 2013, at Directorate General Civil Defence, National Institute of Fire Technology, Government of Pakistan, Islamabad. Topic
