Mission
DPART started voluntary operations in November 2005 following the October 8 2005 earthquake. It is comprised of civilian volunteers who give some of their time to train, support community training and in major emergencies act as volunteer disaster workers.
The main objective has been to provide a free emergency response service to any individual or victims of disasters in Pakistan regardless of cast, gender or religion. The secondary objective is focused on reducing loss of lives and improving resilience of vulnerable communities within the Twin City areas of Islamabad and Rawalpindi by initiating training courses of the general public and advocating for increased government focus on community based disaster management.
