DSB aims to maintain a full overview of risk and vulnerability for society in general, to prevent loss of life and to protect health, the environment and essential public functions and material assets in connection with accidents, disasters and other undesired occurrences in times of peace, crisis and war.
The Norwegian Climate Adaptation Programme was established in May 2007 and is part of the Government’s initiative on climate change adaptation.
The work is coordinated by a group consisting of representatives from 13 ministries. The group is headed by the Ministry of the Environment, and the Directorate for Civil Protection and Emergency Planning (DSB) acts as secretariat for the group.
