Mission

The CDEM is a university-based institution for training, policy advocacy, research and extension services, and volunteer management in the fields of disaster risk reduction, disaster management and emergency management.

Disaster Reduction Goal

to help communities, businesses and organizations in the areas of capability building, policy advocacy and technical assistance towards increasing resiliency and sustainability against disasters and calamities

Policies and Programmes in DRR

(1) Training , (2) mainstreaming DRR in education, (3) research towards policy advocacy, (4) extension services

Risk assessment and early warning systems (HFA 2)

providing technical assistance to communities in pre-disaster risk assessments, community disaster risk reduction planning and pre-disaster recovery planning, mainstreaming DRR in development planning and investment.

Education, information and public awareness (HFA 3)

conduct of regular disaster orientations and trainings in local communities

integration and institutionalization of academic programs to develop DRR sector professionals to work in the various DRR fields of planning, operations and logistics.

Preparedness for effective response (HFA 5)

training of first responders at the local, LGU level and at the national level through sponsored trainings of the uniformed services
